No COBRA Premium Assistance Information Return Required

There has been wide speculation about some additional form the IRS would require of employers and plan sponsors to document the COBRA subsidy given to eligible individuals.  Plan sponsors can feel relieved that IRS has decided not to require the filing of separate reports on subsidy amounts given to individuals.

The Department of Labor and CMS have developed applications for expedited review of COBRA premium reduction denials and submitted them to the Office of Management and Budget for review and clearance by May 15, 2009
